There Is a Dating App Entirely Devoted to Beards

“Connecting those with beards to those who want to stroke beards.” Yup, that is the real-life mission statement of Bristlr — “The Social Beard Network” (cough, dating app, because, let’s be real).Don’t believe me? Just search for the app Bristlr on your phone and hit download. I guarantee, it’svery real.

I knew beard popularity was on the rise, ever since my horizons were widened with the news that Brooklyn hipster boys were getting beard transplants, but let’s just say my horizons have been widened to a whole new level.

Here’s what the homepage looks like:

And they’re not messing around or wasting any time. This dating app — which works much like Tinder — takes beard romance very seriously:

“Instead of asking if you’re single or taken, or looking for men or women, Bristlr simply asks you if you have a beard. […]

Bristlr also provides a beard-rating option, so you can find out how well a potential date’s beard ranks compared to other bearded locals,”the homepage explains.

If this sounds wonderful to you, I recommend signing up as Bristlr is in open beta right now. (You could be a part of the flagship Bristlr crew!)

Curious who came up with this idea? A man named John Kershaw did, as he explains on the About page. He’s “the main guy behind the site.” And, yes, he also has a beard.

“I have a beard, and I like beards. I spotted a gap in the market, and will do pretty much anything to procrastinate from work. You can contact me via john@bristlr.com.”

We are living in exciting times, people. Exciting times. Go support John and your beard-loving heart so everyone who wishes can be in ahappy bearded romantic place. Mazel tov!
